Hometown: Wheeling, West Virginia
I am a firm believer that music cures. I have been in a room and witnessed a stroke victim with no speech carry on a conversation with her family with song. A women with no speech at all sat in a room and sang "I love you" to her grandaughter.
WVU offers many AMAZING health and music fields. These are one of the two best fields that WVU covers; however, we have the chance to put two amazing opportunities together and make on outstanding major.
Few colleges across the U.S. offer this as a major, and I see no reason why we should not. I, a music major, want nothing more than to work in a nursing home and help people communicate. Going out of state for college is not an option. I am proud of where I come from and I want to go to a school that sports my state's colors.
So as I work through my four years of undergrad, I am putting together handouts and powerpoints, to show to the faculty and staff of WVU and hopefully get this going. This can be a great opportunity for WVU, and I want to lead us there!
