I started my interest in rural healthcare and preventative measures for the medically underserved in West Virginia. I coordinated and implemented the project, “Tools for Teeth”, a campus project that collects oral hygiene supplies and distributes them to those in need in Monongalia and Preston counties. As the leader of this project sponsored by the Student Health Advisory Board, I collaborated with four local dentists, nine student organizations, five residence halls, and the Dental Practice and Rural Health Department of the School of Dentistry to collect over 4,000 dental care items for those in need.
